The YouTube channel of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) already has the video summary of the act of admission as corresponding academician of José Ángel Brandín, doctor in Government and Culture of Organizations, which was held on 6 June in the Assembly Hall of the Catalan labor Promotion of National Work, headquarters of the Academy. The recipient read the entry speech “La confianza razonada: un medio para la gestión de la incertidumbre en los procesos de las organizaciones” (The reasoned trust: a means for managing uncertainty in the processes of organizations). On behalf of the Royal Corporation answered the full academician José Daniel Barquero. The event was attended by more than 100 people and about 20 academicians.
Specialist in risk assessment, internal control and internal audit and current director of Internal Audit in Spain of the International Airlines Group (IAG) aeronautical holding, the new academician analyzed in his work the facets and different degrees of trust within the company, stopping in what he calls reasoned trust, and its strategic value for any commercial company. After defining the concept through a series of points and conditions, analyzing the relationship between trust and distrust within the framework of the business organization, defining and alerting about unconditional trust and reviewing the origin and assessing reliability, the new academician addressed the development of that reasoned trust within the organization based on the relationship between cooperation and trust and considered its value in the management of uncertainty.
“In the field of organizations it’s not possible to fully apprehend the essence of trust, the perspectives that identify it primarily as a stimulus for creativity, innovation, satisfaction, cohesion, bonding and motivation or productivity; as facilitating means in conflict management, negotiation, assumption of the chain of command, coordination, cooperation and exchange of information and knowledge in and between organizations; or as a complement to the power of hierarchies and economic incentives typical of the market to direct economic transactions”, Brandín said.
