Pilar Bayer, professor emeritus of the University of Barcelona and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), participates in the commemorative events to mark the third centenary of the birth of Italian mathematics Maria Gaetana Agnesi (1718-1799) organized by the Balearic Society of Mathematics and the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of the Balearic Islands. The academician will deliver this same May 15, in the auditorium of the Sa Riera building, the lecture “Les lectores de Newton” (The readers of Newton) and a day later she will present the work “Uniformització de les corbes de Fermat” (Uniformisation of Fermat Curves) in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the Higher Polytechnic School.
On the other hand, on May 17, at 7:00 pm, at the University of Barcelona will take place the 32nd edition of the Spring Concert of students and professors of the Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. Pilar Bayer will participate with the interpretation of the piano suite “In the shadow of Duke Ellington”, formed by a selection of transcriptions for piano works of the decades of 1930 and 1940 due to own Duke Ellington and other musicians of his jazz band.
