The Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC), the Catalan Society of Geography and the Society of Onomastics of Catalonia held next Tuesday, May 24, a tribute to the much missed geographer and toponomist Vicenç Biete i Farré, father of the academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 Albert Biete.

The event will be held at the headquarters of the IEC (Del Carme st., 47, Barcelona) at 19.00 h. and will include the involvement of Francesc Nadal i Piqué by the Society of Geography, which glossed the most important aspects of the contribution of the honoree as a geographer, and Joan Tort i Donated by the Society of Onomastics, who offer a vision of his personality as toponomist and student of names.

Biete i Farré was president of the Catalan Society of Geography between 1992 and 2000 and vice president of the Society of Onomastics between 2001 and 2007.
