Xabier Añoveros Trias de Bes, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914, presented on May 5 at the Círculo Ecuestre of Barcelona the book on the Universal Tribute to the Spanish Language. Añoveros, member of the Board of Governors of the Círculo, made a comprehensive presentation on the importance of the Spanish language on the planet and its high levels of growth being the second most spoken language in the world after Mandarin Chinese. He reviewed the situation of the language at present and its promising future. He criticized the excessive use of English words in conversations and business and professional documents and the admission by the Royal Spanish Academy of Language of vulgar words that impoverish our language.
The event also featured the intervention of Alfonso Maristany, president of the Círculo Ecuestre, which presented the act, and Ignacio Buqueras Bach, president of the Independent Foundation and the Executive Committee of Universal Tribute to the Spanish Language, organizers of the event.
