The new Internal Regulations of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) provides for the establishment of the Senate, a consultative body composed of between five and seven academicians, in addition to its president, appointed by the General Meeting on proposal of the Governing Board from full or emeritus academicians with more than ten years at the Academy and a long history of service. The Senate will oversee the work of the various bodies of the Academy and make recommendations to the Governing Board.

In guarantee of the independence of the new Senate it’s incompatible to be senator and member of the Governing Board, as provided regulations which must be ratified by the General Meeting at its next meeting.
