Josep Ignasi Saranyana, full academician and president of the Section of Human Sciences of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), will give the inaugural conference at the conference “Lutero 500 anni dopo, a rifletura della Riforma luterana nel suo contesto storico ed ecclesiale”. This congress, organized by the Pontifical Committee for Historical Science, is the first sponsored by the Holy See throughout its history to commemorate the figure of the reformer Martin Luther (1483-1546), on the 500th anniversary of the quarrel of the indulgences, that supposed its break with Rome. The conference will feature prominent personalities from the Lutheran and Catholic world, such as Cardinal Walter Kasper and Heinrich Bedford-Strom, president of the Council of German Evangelical Churches, as well as well-known Lutheran theologians and historians from Germany, Norway, the Netherlands, Italy, France, Spain, the United States and Mexico.
