“The exhaustive control of the auditor itself is the best guarantee of the quality of their work”. Frederic Borràs Pàmies, former partner of KPMG, chairman of the advisory board of Morera Asesores & Auditores and member of the International Board of IECnet, believes that a strict compliance with the Audit Quality Indicators (AQI) prepared by the International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board ensure the good work of auditors and avoid future “scandals”. A strengthened control measures such as forced rotation of auditors provided the new Spanish Audit law, in force since last June.

Borràs made these reflections during his admission as corresponding academician at the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), which was held on Tuesday, July 19, in Barcelona. The recipient read the inaugural address “El reto de mejorar la calidad de la auditoría” (The challenge of improving audit quality). The academician Emili Gironella replied on behalf of the RAED.

Doctor in Economics and Business, Borràs Pàmies combines his professional work with an intense teaching at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Barcelona.
