Antonio Gens, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), has received the Kevin Nash Gold Medal awarded by the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE). Established in 1985, this recognition is granted every four years and is the highest distinction of the institution. The medal was presented during the opening ceremony of the XIX International Conference on Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering recently held in Seoul.
According to the ISSMGE, “the medal is awarded to a person who, because of his distinction as an engineer, for his international contributions to the practice of engineering and education, for his contributions to international goodwill and for his service to the society, has made an outstanding contribution to promote the ideals and objectives of the International Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering throughout the world”.
