The RAED collaborates with the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences, promoted by the academicians Lluís Serra and Javier Aranceta
The Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) and the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences, which is chaired by the full academician of the RAED Lluís Serra and whose vice-president is fellow academician Javier Aranceta, have reached an institutional collaboration agreement that will allow them to develop common projects and participate in a preferred way in the activities carried out by any of the two academic institutions. A collaboration that has already materialized in the Annual Scientific Session that the Academy held this Wednesday, October 24, within the framework of the Nutrimad 2018 International Congress. The Spanish Royal Academy of Medicine has also participated in the events. Its president, Joaquín Poch, co-chaired the session with Serra.
During the acts, the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences welcomed as honorary member Manuel Serrano, professor of Internal Medicine at the Complutense University of Madrid and academician of the Royal Academy of Medicine. Likewise, Immaculada Bautista, a doctor in Medicine at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and a renowned gastroenterologist, and Ana María López, a doctor in Pharmacy and professor in the Nutrition and Bromatology Department of the Complutense University of Madrid, entered as full academicians.
The Academy recognized Gregorio Varela, professor of Nutrition and Bromatology at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the San Pablo-CEU University with his annual award and presented his diplomas of honour to the Pasfec Program of the Spanish Heart Foundation; to Mar Ruperto, of the Ramón y Cajal Hospital and the San Pablo-CEU University, to the Food Bank of Spain and to the Eroski Foundation. The Honour Plaque for the Professional Career in Paediatrics and Paediatric Nutrition corresponded to Alfonso Delgado, professor of Paediatrics at the San Pablo-CEU University.
The Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences was born in 2009 promoted by the two RAED academicians, among other experts, to respond to a social and academic need and become a reference in the food and nutrition field by promoting sustainable use of food resources as well as to guarantee truthful, accredited and independent information on issues related to food and nutrition. Today it brings together leading specialists in its fields of study.
