Núria Vallcorba, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) and former president of the Catalan Society of Dentistry and the Spanish Society of Periodontics and Osseointegration, has been recognized with the Professional Excellence Award granted annually the Association of Physicians of Barcelona. A distinction that the winner will receive during a ceremony to be held on December 3 at the AXA Auditorium in Barcelona (Diagonal, 547).
These awards are granted by independent juries and are intended to distinguish those doctors of exemplary behaviour. “It’s a moral recognition that emphasizes the values of medical professionalism in various fields, in order to recognize the leadership and excellence that serve as a reference for the profession”, says the ideology of the Association of Physicians.
The ceremony will be headed by Jaume Padrós, president of the Association, and will open with the conference “Lluitant contra les malalties tropicals desateses mitjançant la recerca: l’exemple del pian” (Fighting neglected tropical diseases through research: the example of yaws), by Oriol Mitjà, medical researcher specialized in infectious diseases. As a closing, the journalist and writer Quim Monzó will make a brief consideration about diseases in literature. The session will also be attended by Elvira Bisbe, vice-president of the Association, and Gustavo Tolchinsky, secretary of the Governing Board. The session will be conducted by the journalist Montse Jené.
