The senator and academician Santiago Castellà promotes the meeting of Pedro Duque with Nobel laureate and honorary academician Richard Schrock in Tarragona
Richard Schrock, Nobel prize in Chemistry in 2005 and honorary academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), and Pedro Duque, Spanish minister of Science and Innovation, starred on May 7 a scientific dialogue during a seminar organized in Tarragona by the Tarragona Smart Mediterranean Region Foundation and the Chair Tarragona Smart Mediterranean City of the Rovira i Virgili University, both led and promoted by senator Santiago Castellà, full academician of the RAED and general secretary of the Pro-Royal European Academy of Doctors Foundation.
Schrock also gave the lecture “Advances in the Metathesis of Olefins with Molybdenum Catlysts” in the framework of a series of actions and talks organized by the Innovation Center AMIGO and the University Rovira i Virgili. Activities sponsored by Tarragona Harbor, the Chemical Business Association of Tarragona and the Chamber of Commerce of Tarragona. The honorary academician also participated in a reception at the Tarragona City Council, signed the book of honor of the Rovira i Virgili University and participated in the presentation of the Rambla Science project, a new space for the creation and dissemination of science and transfer of knowledge through creativity that will occupy the old headquarters of the Bank of Spain in the city. He also visited the Repsol facilities in the Tarragona Industrial Complex.
During his stay in Tarragona, the Nobel prize winner also met with José Ramón Calvo, also full academician and president of the Institute of International Cooperation of the Royal Academy to outline future projects. Schrock, in fact, will be one of the featured participants in the first Scientific Expedition that the RAED will take to the Galapagos Islands with National Geographic in September 2020.
