Jaume Armengou, doctor in Civil Engineering and Vice-rector of the International University of Catalunya (UIC), explained in his speech of admission as full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), celebrated on February 2, how the similarity theory has allowed him to successfully face labor challenges and improve the management of the UIC itself.
“Common practice in engineering, the theory of similarity starts from the verification in small scale models that a project adapts itself to all the parameters of safety and functionality. Hence, from the beginning, I tried to take this theory to others fields, such as teaching”, explained the recipient, who read the entry speech“Teoria de la semblança i govern universitari” (Theory of similarity and university governance).
Armengou started with the testimony of professors with more than 40 years of experience, different university models from all five continents and successful models in the management of companies to configure the “model” of what the UIC should be and launch its current management model.
