el entorno social niño y adolescente libro Joaquin CallabedJoaquín Callabed, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) and president of the Spanish Club of Social Pediatrics, has donated to the Academy Library the book “El entorno social, niño y adolescente. Familia, adolescencia, adopción e inmigración” (The social environment, child and adolescent. Family, adolescence, adoption and immigration) (Laertes), coordinated and written largely by Callabed himself along with María Jesús Comellas and María Jesús Mardomingo, among other authors specialized in different disciplines. The work, in fact, addresses from a multidisciplinary approach the important influence that the family and social context has on the child, emphasizing complex environments such as adoption or immigration.

Over almost 300 pages, various professionals, from pediatricians, nursing graduates, pedagogues, psychologists and psychiatrists to jurists or epidemiologists, make their contributions on these current issues under the guidelines set by the Club of Social Pediatrics. The content includes studies on the family, breastfeeding, adoption, adolescence, immigration, psychopharmacology and the environment, along with some philosophical and humanistic reflections. The topics analyzed are grouped into three main blocks: legal, psychological and pediatric aspects.

Doctor in Medicine and Surgery and specialist in the multidisciplinary study of problems affecting children and adolescents and a member of 12 national and international scientific societies, Callabed is the author of more than twenty books devoted to the subject and a reference in comprehensive attention to minors. María Jesús Comellas is a doctor in Psychology, professor emeritus of Educational Orientation of the Department of Applied Pedagogy of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and director of its Educational Research, Orientation and Development Group. María Jesús Mardomingo, meanwhile, is responsible for Child Psychiatry and Psychology at the Gregorio Marañón University General Hospital in Madrid and a professor at the Complutense University of Madrid.
