Jaime Rodrigo de Larrucea, professor of Nautical Law at the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), believes that the Spanish Government should have sought a negotiated reform of the stowage sector to comply with the demands of the European Union before forcing a Royal Decree that has now been repealed by the lack of a sufficient majority in Congress.

“It’s clear that the current system has to be modified, it can not be so exclusive, but it could have been done in a slower and more progressive way to safeguard professional qualifications and workers’ rights”. This is assured in an interview granted to Barcelona Televisió.
