The speakers at the session on education stressed the importance of forming future generations sensitive with a sustainable development
The Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) participated in the organization and development of the second Green Economy Summit, held in Cordoba, Argentina, on October 5 and 6, with its academician and president of the Interdisciplinary Research Institute José Ramón Calvo, member of the organizing committee and moderator of two sessions. Als, at the summit were the Nobel prizes in Economics and honorary academicians of the RAED Eric Maskin and Edmund Phelps.
In the session entitled “The role of education in the green economy”, moderated by Calvo, participated the rector of the National University of Cordoba (Argentina), Hugo Juri; the rector of the 21th Century University (Argentina), María Belén Mendé; the president of the NGO and educational institution ORT International, Darío Werthein, and the director of Communication and Image of Telefónica Argentina, Pablo Armagni.
Juri stressed the importance that his academic institution gives to the environmental issues and the need to have specialists in these subjects. Wertein, for his part, focused on the importance that his organization gives to education. ORT International carries out activities in more than 58 countries and throughout its history has been present in more than 100. It currently has a private university in Uruguay with more than 10,000 students.
The rector of the 21th Century University presented the data of her institution and focused on the role it plays in the technical training of the new generations. Armagni, for his part, pointed out the importance of new communication technologies for sustainability and how, from their institution, educational programs at different levels are being promoted in Argentina and in other countries of the region to improve levels of awareness environmental.
