Josep PRIM CAPDEVILA, Born in Montoliu de Lleida (Lleida). 5-2-1955

In 1979 he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Medicine and Surgery at the Hospital de Sant Pau of the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He specialized in Neurosurgery at the Hospital de Mar of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, in 1983.

He achieved the degree of Doctor Cum Laude in Medicine and Surgery also from the same University in 1992. He has belonged to different Societies in the country, such as the Academy of Medical Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, the Catalan and Spanish Society of Neurosurgery, the Catalan Society of Neurology, the Spanish Society of History of Medicine, the Medical-Surgical Association of Lleida, the Spanish Society of Pain, the Catalan Society of Surgery, the Catalan Association of Paleopathology and the Spanish Society of Neuro-Rachis.

At the international level he has also belonged to different associations: International Society for Minimal Intervention in Spinal Surgery and American Association of Neurological Surgeons. He has completed training stays in his specialty in different hospitals: George Washington Hospital, in the Neurosurgery Service, at the University Clinic Steglitz, in Berlin, also in the Neurosurgery Service, in the Institute of Neurological Sciences of The Southern Genera Hospital in Glasgow and in the Neurosurgery Service of the University of Missouri-Columbia, School of Medicine.

Within the national scope he has been an Associate Physician of the Neurosurgery Services of the Germans Trías y Pujol Hospital in Badalona, the Dexeus Institute in Barcelona, the General Hospital of Catalonia in Sant Cugat del Vallès and the Hospital de Mar in Barcelona. He has been Medical Coordinator of the Neurosurgery Service at the Teknon Medical Center in Barcelona. He is head of the Neurosurgery Service at the Sagrat Cor Hospital in Barcelona.

He is part of the Board of Trustees of the Fundació Joan Oró. He has written two books and several book chapters, organized Neurosurgery Courses for Nursing Personnel since 1981 and participated as a professor in Masters for Neurosurgical Nursing. Currently he is a physician in the Neurosurgery Service of the Corachan Clinic in Barcelona.
