GREGORIO VARELA MOREIRAS, professor of nutrition and bromatology at the Sant Pau-CEU University, Director of the Department of Pharmaceutical and Health sciences, and head of the research group on “Nutrition and Food Sciences”.
He is President of the Spanish Foundation for Nutrition (FEN), expresident of the Spanish Society of Nutrition (SEN), academic of the Royal
Academy of Gastronomy, and founding member of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences.
A PhD in pharmacy, he made his postdoctoral stay at Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Ageing at TUFTS University in Boston. Subsequently, he moved to the Biomedical Research Institute (CSIC) in Madrid, and then developed his activity at the University of Burgos, until his definitive incorporation at the CEU Sant Pau University. He has published more than 160 scientific articles in international and national journals, as well as more than 50 chapters, and has been editor of 15 books. He has participated in over forty international and national research projects and contracts.
