Doctor “Cum Laude” from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) in 2013. Professor in the Department of Optometry at UPC from 1995 to 1998. Master’s Degree in Optometry and Vision Sciences from UPC in 2009. Master’s Degree in Contactology and Advanced Optometry from the University of Barcelona in 1999. Diploma in Optics and Optometry from the Escola Universitària de Terrassa in 1994. Fellow of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators. Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.
He is a member of various national and international scientific societies and has received multiple research and scientific photography awards throughout his professional career. First Prize in Optical Research 2000 in 1989 (Spain). Research Prize from the National College of Opticians-Optometrists (Honorable Mention) in 1994 (Spain). International Research Prize: Joaquín Rutllán Award – Instituto Barraquer (First Honorable Mention) in 1999 (Spain). Gaceta Óptica Award from the National College of Opticians-Optometrists in 2010 (Spain).
Scientific photography awards in the European Symposiums on Contact Lenses: First Prize in 1991 (Switzerland), First Prize in 1992 (France), Second Prize in 1994 (Portugal). Second Photography Prize at the 77th Congress of the Spanish Society of Ophthalmology in 2001 (Spain). First Prize in the International Poster Contest at the “European Symposium on Contact Lenses” in 2000 (Germany).
He is considered an international pioneer in the rehabilitation of complete homonymous hemianopsias, having developed the Palomar Prisms, the Palomar Extinction Phenomenon (FEV-Pal), and the first online visual therapy platform with neurovisual rehabilitation programs.
Author of three books: “Neuro-ophthalmology. Exploration, Tests, and Diagnosis”, “Treatment of Homonymous Hemianopsias with Palomar Adherent Prisms”, and “Inducing Neuroplasticity in the Rehabilitation of Homonymous Hemianopsias or Sectorial Visual Field Losses.” He has also contributed a chapter in two clinical contactology books. Furthermore, he has published 73 articles in 8 specialized journals and delivered 25 national presentations, 14 international ones, and 27 courses.
His current line of research focuses on the neurorehabilitation of patients with sectorial visual field losses following a stroke. He combines scientific research with managing the Palomar Centers and serving as president of the NGO Association for Hemianopsic Patients, which he founded in 2017.
