The Register of Economists Auditors of the Spanish General Council of Economists appoints Gay de Liébana honorary member
José María Gay de Liébana, professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Barcelona and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), was appointed on December 13 honorary member of the Registry of Economists Auditors of the Spanish General Council of Economists. The appointment was made within the framework of the 9th edition of AuditMeeting, the main event organised by this corporation.
The solemn act of appointment took place during a dinner held in a downtown Madrid hotel attended by numerous economists and auditors, as well as the majority of the presidents of the Economist Associations of Spain as well as the dean of the General Council of Economists, Valentí Pich; the president of the Registry of Economists Auditors, Carlos Puig de Travy, and his vicepresidents, Ramón Madrid and Eladio Acevedo, as well as the majority of members of its board of directors.
Acevedo glossed the figure and the merits of Gay de Liébana before Pich and Puig de Travy personally handed him the distinction that accredits him as a new member of honour. The academician expressed his thanks for the appointment and briefly reviewed his career and vocation as an economist.
The General Council of Economists of Spain is the corporation that groups together, coordinates and represents professionals at a domestic, European and international levels. Likewise, it orders, defends and protects professional practice and the interests of consumers and of these professionals. The General Council of Economists is responsible for the coordination and representation of the Commercial Holders Associations and the Economist Associations throughout Spain.
