The Royal European Academy of Doctors (RAED) and Torres y Carrera, the communications consultancy behind the science communication platform Kómoda News, have signed a collaboration agreement aimed at strengthening the dissemination of scientific knowledge, promoting academic rigour and developing joint initiatives to combat disinformation. The collaboration stems from a shared vision: the need to reinforce the role of science, evidence and expert knowledge in a context marked by the proliferation of hoaxes and false content, particularly affecting areas such as health, food, food safety, nutrition and sustainability.
Through this agreement, signed by Paula Carrera on behalf of the consultancy firm and by Alfredo Rocafort as President of the Governing Board of the Royal Academy, the two organisations will work together to develop and amplify content of scientific, technical and academic interest, encouraging the participation of RAED experts in interviews, articles, meetings and other initiatives promoted by Kómoda News. They will also explore opportunities for collaboration on European projects aimed at defending science and combating disinformation.
Kómoda News has established itself as a leading platform for evidence-based communication, promoting social research projects and awareness-raising initiatives on the impact of disinformation on society in recent years. Its Editorial Board includes the Numerary Member and Vice-President of the RAED Rafael Urrialde. The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition recently granted the platform its NAOS Strategy Award for its work in information, communication and scientific outreach. This specialist portal had previously received the Public Relations Excellence Award in the category “Combating Fake News”, presented by the International Public Relations Association.
Through this alliance, both organisations reaffirm their commitment to promoting rigorous, accessible information based on scientific knowledge, thereby helping to strengthen public trust in science and academic institutions. The agreement formally entered into force on 1 June 2026 and will initially remain valid until the end of the year. It may be renewed for successive one-year periods unless either party terminates it early.
