Dr. G. Devin Stephenson is the second president of Florida Polytechnic University, the state’s only public university dedicated exclusively to education in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). He assumed the role in July 2024, coinciding with the institution’s tenth anniversary.

With more than 30 years of experience in higher education and over 15 years as a president and CEO, Dr. Stephenson has led various educational institutions in Alabama, Missouri, and Kentucky. Before joining Florida Poly, he served as president of Northwest Florida State College, where he achieved significant growth in the foundation’s assets, grant acquisitions, and legislative appropriations.

Stephenson holds a doctorate and a master’s degree in higher education administration from the University of Alabama, a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Birmingham-Southern College, and an associate degree in science from Walker Junior College.

His goals as a leader at Florida Poly, a university focused on STEM studies, center on increasing student enrollment, expanding infrastructure, and strengthening the university’s academic reputation, with the aspiration of becoming known in the future as the MIT of the southern U.S. He has been recognized for his commitment to educational excellence, being included in the Florida 500 list of the state’s most influential leaders.
