- His research focuses on computational and fracture mechanics, materials and metamaterials simulation, particle methods and granular flows, contact and friction mechanics, and computational design of metamaterials.
- Among his major research projects are the ERC Advanced Grant (2013–2017): COMP-DES-MAT and the ERC Proof of Concept projects CATALOG (2018) and METACOUSTIC (2019).
- Full Professor of Continuum Mechanics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
