Pilar Bayer, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), gave the inaugural lesson of the new course of the Catalan School of Music in an event that took place on 20 September in the room Oriol Martorell of the Auditori of Barcelona. Under the title “Music and Mathematics: Elective Affinities”, the lesson focused on a presentation of the mathematical concepts inherent in new technologies that make possible the reproduction of music in digital format as well as its generation through artificial intelligence techniques.
In an informative tone, directed especially to a public of musical formation, Bayer exposed the simultaneity in the use of the musical and mathematical languages. The session was presided over by Joan Mateo, secretary of Educational Policies of the Generalitat, and was attended by several musical formations of the school and the outstanding presence of the Gerhard Quartet.
