Rosalía Arteaga, former president of Ecuador, president of the Foundation for the Integration and Development of Latin America and honorary academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), was honoured by the Catholic University of Cuenca (Ecuador) for her work and journalistic career within the framework of a tribute to her country’s journalism. The act of recognition took place on January 10 in the church of the Sanctuary of this municipality which she is original and had the participation of its Symphony Orchestra.
Doctor in Jurisprudence and Anthropology, Arteaga adds to her dedication to politics her passion for education and a vast career as an essayist and poet that has been recognized internationally. The honorary academician of the RAED actively participates in multiple forums and courses on both sides of the Atlantic and is an international reference in the fields of education and sustainable development. She has participated in the main activities organized by the Royal Academy since she was appointed honorary academician in 2016.
As for the Symphony Orchestra of Cuenca, under the musical direction of Michael Meissner is one of the main institutions of this municipality and only last year he performed more than 150 concerts.
