Edmund Phelps, Nobel prize in Economics in 2006, will enter at the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) as honorary academician during a solemn session to be held in Barcelona next Friday, May 19th. The full academician María José Esteban will receive the new member on behalf of the RAED. The event will be sponsored by the Cajasol Foundation. Its president and also academician of the RAED, Antonio Pulido, will preside over the session with the president of the Royal Academy, Alfredo Rocafort.

Doctorate by Yale University, Phelps was awarded the Nobel prize for his analysis of international trade offs in macroeconomic policies. He is currently a professor at Columbia University, where he runs the Center on capitalism and society.
