Maria Àngels Calvo, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) and Chair of the Department of Health Sciences, calls for efforts to the academic world and in particular the scientific academies to open their activity to civil society and urges the academicians to have an active role. “For many years, the academies have developed their activity back to society and who no longer fulfill its purpose to become enclosed spaces, to the point that society unaware of its existence. We must open the doors and be alert of the problems that society has to try to provide an answer”.
Calvo makes these reflections at number 9 of Tribuna Plural, the journal of the RAED, which was presented in June. Doctor of Pharmacy and Veterinary Medicine, she is part of several research teams frontline and is a member of ten academies and scientific organizations of reference.
