Joaquin Callabed, elected academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), has donated to the Library of the Academy his book “El Rincón de Prometeo” (The Corner of Prometheus) (Una Luna Ediciones) , where he gathers the multiple experiences and thoughts that have marked their intellectual life. The work, as the author himself explains in the prologue, is a stop on the way to systematize and put in order notes and memories from his particular Prometheus Corner, an improvised office overlooking one of the valleys of the Aragonese Pyrenees.
Doctor of Medicine, specialist in paediatrics and child care and president of the Spanish Social Paediatrics Club, Callabed is recognised for his works of reference in the fields of health and well-being of children and adolescents, although it’s this personal work that reveals his most intimate personality and his concern for fields of knowledge and life as diverse as travel, philosophy, painting, architecture, mythology, ecology, poetry or religion.
“In this book, I propose the titanic task of ordering this hurricane of data and ideas that have been approaching my life, I don’t know if I can achieve it, I’m content to briefly design my intentions”, says Caballed. The author gets it, to rise as an example of life in fullness in the almost 500 pages of the work.
