Dr. JUAN TRIAS DE BES

• Born in Barcelona in 1964.

UNIVERSITY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Architect, Technical School of Architecture of Barcelona (ETSAB) (1991).
• PhD Cum Laude (2013) with the thesis Arquitecturas Matéricas, Department of Composition and Architectural Theory, ETSAB, focused on the relationship between Matter and Form.

TEACHING ACTIVITY:

• Head of the Project Area at the School of Architecture (UIC Barcelona) since 2002, where he teaches Final Degree and Master’s Projects.
• Guest lecturer in international programs (ITESM Barcelona; Ion Mincu University of Bucharest; Cátedra Blanca ETSAB Master’s Program; University of Santiago de Chile; IED Barcelona; School of Architecture of Granada) and thesis board member at the Faculty of Biology of Barcelona.
• Speaker at architecture seminars and author of articles in specialized journals.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY:

• Founder of TDB Arquitectura (Barcelona, 1992), dedicated to building and urban planning.
• Author of institutional projects: Residencia Universitaria Sarrià, headquarters of the Academy of Medical Sciences of Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, Grifols headquarters, and ESADE campus in Sant Cugat.
• Restoration and renovation works: Mandarin Oriental Hotel, ESADE Barcelona Convention Center, Casa Burés.
• Research: member of the LITEIS group (UIC), where he directs the hARQware Chair on ICT innovation applied to architecture.
