UNIVERSITY QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduated in 1992 from the University of Medicine of Barcelona, Spain, and obtained his specialization diploma in Dermatology and Venereology in 1996.
- Completed his PhD in Medicine at the University of Barcelona in 2006, focused on diagnosis and genetics of melanoma.
- His main fields of specialization are skin tumors, with a special focus on non-invasive diagnosis, genetic susceptibility, and treatment of malignant skin tumors (melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer).
- His areas of biomedical research and innovation include:
- Diagnosis and prognosis of skin cancer using non-invasive techniques (digital dermoscopy monitoring, confocal microscopy, OCT, HD-OCT, impedance, and spectroscopy), as well as their application in Artificial Intelligence (Neural Networking).
- Treatment of skin cancer and cancerization fields.
- Genetics of cancer and susceptibility to skin cancer.
- Skin carcinogenesis, telemedicine, and social media in medicine.
TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY
- Consultant at the Department of Dermatology and Director of the Melanoma Unit at Hospital Clínic of Barcelona since 2003.
- Consultant at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York (USA).
- Master’s professor at the University of Barcelona, Department of Medicine.
- Since 2013, Director of the Technology Group of the ISIC (Imaging of the Skin Collaborative Group) and consultant to the Technical Committee of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC).
- Researcher at the IDIBAPS (August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute).
- Researcher and Director of the DIAGNOPTICS project, a European photonics consortium for skin diagnostics.
- Director of more than 10 international courses and conferences, including 7 World Melanoma Congresses, and lecturer in skin cancer courses (over 250 lectures since 1998).
- Professor of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology since 2003 and of the American Academy of Dermatology since 2004.
- He has participated as a lecturer in more than 140 international congresses and over 110 national ones.

- Author of more than 200 scientific articles.
