Jaume Armengou, vice chancellor of Academic Organisation and International Relations of the International University of Catalonia (UIC) and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), will assume in September the General Secretariat of the Business School IESE to open a new stage in a professional career focused on academic management. “After these eleven years at UIC I can only express my gratitude and admiration to so many people with whom I have shared a lot of experiences, I will continue to have them at my disposal, I will observe the exciting progress of the university from a very close. I will consider it as my own”, said Armengou in his parting address to the UIC community.
Architect of the management model of this university centre, the academician started from the testimony of professors with more than 40 years of experience, from diverse teaching models from all over the world and from models of success in the management of companies to configure the successful model of the UIC. “Common practice in engineering, the theory of similarity is based on the verification of models or small-scale projects that a project fits all safety and functionality parameters, which is why from the beginning I tried to take this theory to others areas, such as teaching”, explained Armengou the gestation of this model during his admission to the Royal Academy.
A doctor in Road, Canal and Port Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), concerns about various areas of knowledge have led Armengou to become a specialist in fields as diverse as the management of all types of projects, design and calculation of concrete structures and biomedical engineering. He has been a professor at the UPC, at the University of Navarra, at the University of Piura (Peru) and at the UIC. Now he opens a new stage linked to the world of business training.
