Introduction
On Monday, 15 June, at 18:30 h, the joint round-table session between the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia, at C/ del Hospital 56, Barcelona, the Royal European Academy of Doctors, the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia and the Academy of Veterinary Sciences of Catalonia will take place, within the framework of the Week of the Academies.
The session is entitled “The One Health paradigm. One Welfare. An interdisciplinary approach”
The One Health paradigm. One Welfare. An interdisciplinary approach
The session features speakers from different professional fields, who will discuss how human, animal and environmental health are interconnected and how global welfare can be addressed jointly.
Dr Miguel Salgot, on behalf of the RAFC, will speak about the relevance of water within the One Health paradigm, highlighting its fundamental role in environmental health and disease prevention. Dr Alfredo Rocafort, representing the RAED, will present the legal framework of One Health and One Welfare, emphasising the rights and responsibilities that will make it possible to guarantee health and social protection. Finally, Dr Mª dels Àngels Calvo, from the ACVC, will analyse the presence of pets in the city and its implications for public health, showing the need for an integrative approach that combines animal and community welfare.
The round table highlights how interdisciplinary collaboration is key to building a sustainable global health model, in which the protection of people, animals and the environment is inseparable and complementary.
