JOSEP MARIA FRANQUET BERNIS (Tortosa, 1950), has a Doctor in Economics and Business Sciences, from the University of Barcelona (1995). He is also a Doctor in Architecture from the International University of Catalonia (2007).
He is an Agricultural Engineer, MSc (specialty in Agrarian Economics), from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, where he completed his degree in 1974, subsequently completing Doctorate studies and Industrial Technical Engineering. He also holds the title of Technical Engineer in Agricultural Operations from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (1997).
He has a Diploma in Cooperation (1971-74) and a Diploma in Operations Research (1976) from the University of Valencia, a Diploma in Business Economics (1974) and a Diploma in Business Planning (1979-1980) from the Polytechnic University of Madrid. . He has the professional recognition of Doctor Senior Engineer, European Engineer–EUR ING (FEANI, Paris, 1993).
In 1974 he began his teaching career as a professor at the School of Operations Research at the University of Valencia (Department of Applied Mathematics).
He was a professor-tutor at the Associated Center of the National University of Distance Education (UNED) in Tortosa from 1975 to 2020 (Department of Quantitative Applied Economics) and from October 2007 to September 2020 he has been Director of the same, having been named Honorary Director. He has also been Director of the Northeast Campus (Catalonia and the Balearic Islands) of said University. He has been Associate Professor (1999-2007) at the International University of Catalonia (Department of Hydraulics and Projects).
He has the official accreditations of collaborating professor, assistant doctor and contracted doctor by several Official Evaluation Agencies. Author of numerous technical articles, as well as more than 50 books and monographs on agriculture, construction, hydraulics, territorial planning, climatology, fish farming, folklore, narrative, local administration, psychology, topography, poetry, mathematics and economics.
