Dr. Jorge Molinero Huguet

Jorge Molinero Huguet holds a degree in Geology from the University of Barcelona (1995) and a PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of A Coruña (2000). He has been a professor at the School of Civil Engineering of the University of A Coruña, at the Polytechnic School of the University of Santiago de Compostela, and at the School of Civil Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Catalonia. During his academic career, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Florida, at KTH – Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm), and at the University of Gothenburg. He was President of the Spanish Group of the International Association of Hydrogeologists (2003-2006), recipient of the Alfons Bayó Award (International Association of Hydrogeologists) for young researchers (2002) and the Carlos Ruiz Celaá Award (2006), granted by the National Association of Mining Engineers in recognition of his contributions to hydrogeological knowledge.

In his work as a development aid worker, he has collaborated on and led water supply projects in the Sahrawi refugee camps of Tindouf (Algeria), in Same (Tanzania), and in Cabo Delgado (Mozambique).

Since 2007, he has worked in the private sector. He has held various positions at Amphos 21 Consulting, an environmental engineering and consultancy company that is part of the multinational RSK Group, where he is currently General Manager in Spain.

In the literary field, Jorge Molinero is the author of the novels Toda la muerte para dormir (Carena, 2018), translated into Arabic (Wanafrica, 2020); La enfermera del desierto (Carena, 2019); and Nómadas (Trampa, 2021), translated into Catalan (Trampa, 2022). He was also the co-editor (together with Dr. Larossi Haidar) of the short story collection Saharauidades, contributing one of the stories himself (Wanafrica, 2020). Finally, he published the essay-fiction book Underground, Speculative Explorations Underground (Trampa Ediciones, 2023).
