Full Professor of Social Anthropology at the University of Salamanca, Director of the Interuniversity Doctorate Program in Anthropology of Ibero-America (80 doctors trained) and of the official Master’s degree adapted to the EHEA in the same specialty (220 graduates) from 1997 to 2022.
President of the Spanish Society of Applied Anthropology, President of the Anthropological Research Institute of Castilla y León, he is Academic Director of multiple research projects, book publications (28), international conferences (31), completed supervised doctoral theses (71), international networks universities (3), etc., all focused on the cultures of Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
He has taught postgraduate teaching as a guest professor at more than forty universities in the aforementioned field. Among his books, “Freud and Lévi-Strauss” (translated into Portuguese and Chinese) and “Manual of Cultural Anthropology” (translated into Portuguese) stand out, for which he has received several academic awards. 37 book chapters, 90 published articles.

Honorary Professor of the Faculty of Science of Curitiba, Member of the Historical and Geographic Institutes of Santa Catarina and Lages (Brazil) and Honorary Doctor from the Mesoamerican University of San Cristóbal de Las Casas (Mexico).
