Pilar Bayer Isant is a professor of algebra at the University of Barcelona since 1982. She previously obtained the title of Professor of Piano at the Conservatoire Superior Muncipal de Barcelona (1967). He graduated and PhD in Mathematics from the University of Barcelona (1968, 1975).
She has been a professor of mathematics at the Universities of Barcelona (1968-1975), Autónoma de Barcelona (1969-1977 and 1981-1982), Regensburg (Germany, 1977-1980) and Santander (1980-1981).
His search field is the theory of names. His publications in journals such as, Inventiones mathematicae, Mathematischte Annalen, Journal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik, Journal of Number Theory, Compositio mathematica, Experimental mathematics or Acta Arithmetica, deal with zeta functions, auto morfes forms, Galois theory, diofantines equations and Shimura curves.
To date he has directed 12 doctoral theses. Together Montserrat Alsina, is the author of the book Quaternion orders, quadratic forms and Shimura curves (American Mathematical Society, 2004).
She is a Numerary academic of the Reial Academy of Doctors (1994), of the Royal Academy of Sciences and Arts (2001), of the Royal Academy of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences (2010) of Madrid and member of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans (2001).
The year 2004 was named Emy-Noether-Profesorin by the Georg-August University of Göttingen (Germany). He has received the Narcís Monturiol medal for scientific and technological merit from the Generalitat de Catalunya (1998) and the Serra d’Or Prize (2013) in the search mode for his work, jointly with Artur Travesa and Jordi Guàrdia, Arrels germàniques de la Mathematical Contemporary (IEC, 2012).
