The YouTube channel of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) already has the video summary of the act of admission as full academician of Frederic Borràs, doctor of Economic and Business Sciences, recognized auditor and corresponding academician of the institution since 2016, held on June 19 in the Assembly Hall of Catalan labor Promotion of National Work, headquarters of the Academy. The recipient read the admission speech “¿Estamos preparados para la próxima crisis?” (Are we prepared for the next crisis?). On behalf of the Royal Corporation answered the full academician José María Gay de Liébana.
In his speech, Borràs analyzed in depth the reforms that the audit has carried out, providing new standards and mechanisms and pointing the way forward in the improvement and analysis of financial information in order to provide reliable information that can be anticipate hypothetical crisis in the future. From there he tried to answer the question he asks in the title of his work. And he advanced some risks that he considers accurate, such as the alarming worldwide debt escalation.
Member of the Transnational Committee of the International Federation of Auditors, the New York-based institution that regulates the profession internationally, Borràs is also a member of the Board of Directors and president of the Audit Practice in IECnet. He is also chairman of the Advisory Council of Morera Asesores & Auditores and member of the Global Council of the Association for Corporate Growth, the main community of professionals dedicated to mergers, acquisitions and corporate growth internationally. The academician worked for almost four decades in the firm KPMG, where he became a partner in charge of the offices of Barcelona, Girona, Palma and Andorra. Among his institutional positions, the academician is honorary president of the Association of Certified Censors of Accounts of Catalonia.
