Lluís Serra Majem and Javier Aranceta, doctors in Medicine and Surgery, will enter as academics of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED) during a solemn session to be held in Barcelona on July 12, 2017.
Serra Majem is professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. He is founder and president of the Spanish Academy of Nutrition and Food Sciences, the Spanish Foundation for Nutrition Research and the Spanish NGO Nutrition Without Borders. He is also the chairman of the European Hydration Institute and the scientific committee of the Mediterranean Diet Foundation.
Aranceta, for his part, is a professor of Public Health and Community Nutrition at the University of Navarra and Paediatrics at the University of the Basque Country and president of the Spanish Society of Community Nutrition.
Serra Majem will read the speech “Dieta mediterránea: una visión global” (Mediterranean diet: a global vision), while Aranceta will lecture on “La nutrición comunitaria en el siglo XXI” (Community nutrition in the 21st century). They will answer on behalf of the RAED the academics of number José Ramón Calvo and Maria Àngels Calvo, respectively.
