Jesús Gerardo Sotomayor, corresponding academician for Mexico of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914 (RAED), has donated his book “Magnicidios y ocasos históricos en México” (Magnicides and historic sunsets in Mexico) to the Library of the Academy. In this work he recounts the tragic end of outstanding figures of the history of Mexico from Moctezuma to Blessed Miguel Pro, without forgetting characters that transcend Mexican history such as Cuauhtémoc, Porfirio Díaz, San Felipe de Jesús, Antonio López de Santa Anna, Emiliano Zapata and Pancho Villa.
“The purpose of this work, which contains two aspects of Mexican life that have been little considered or treated together, prompted me to develop the issues concerning the historical assassinations and events that have taken place in Mexico, so that read them know that presidents and political leaders were the object of an attack. In relation to historical events I have considered publicizing the last moments of the characters who contributed to the country the best of themselves while they were convinced that their actions were attached to the needs of the times in which they had to fight and die”, explains Sotomayor in the preface to the work.
