Distinguished career: Professor at Ramon Llull University, noted for his career in innovation, entrepreneurship and ICT strategy, with extensive research work and academic leadership in engineering and university management.

Francesc Miralles Torner (Sabadell, 1955) is a professor at Ramon Llull University and Commissioner for Strategic Planning at La Salle-URL. He was Dean of FICEDLS, Dean of Policy and Academic Organisation, and Director of the ETSEEI at La Salle-URL. He is a Telecommunications Engineer and holds a PhD from the UPC and an MBA from ESADE-URL.

He has carried out academic activity at the UPF, serving as Director of the ESUP of Telecommunications. He has been a university professor at ESADE-URL, the UOC and the UPC.

In his research activity, he chairs the Innova Institute and leads research teams on social inclusion, innovation, entrepreneurship, project management and engineering education. He has supervised more than 20 doctoral theses and published more than 150 scientific papers, books and book chapters. He has led research projects funded by the European Commission (Marie Skłodowska-Curie, INNOSUP, Erasmus+, UDRE), the Spanish government (CYCIT and CENIT) and the Generalitat de Catalunya (FEDER, AGAUR). He has also been a senior researcher at the PriceWater-houseCoopers – IESE eBusiness Center.

He has been a visiting professor at ESAN University and at the University of British Columbia, Vancouver (Canada). He is founder and academic dean of the NITIM network and of the AIS Senior Scholar Consortium. He was a member of the Executive Committee of ICIS and co-chair of ICIS’02.

Active in pedagogical renewal processes, he received the Jaume Vicens Vives Distinction awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya for two collective projects for adaptation to the EHEA.

He was Executive Director of FOBSIC, Director of SIO (InOutTV), Director of MIS Planning (RETEVISION), held management responsibility at Tectel, S.A., at the Office Automation R&D Centre for Data General, and at the Systems Department of COSTAI, S.A. He has also worked as a consultant in ICT Strategic Planning.
