Carlos Cortina

Dr. Carlos Cortina

Carlos Cortina, Delegate for Spain of the Dynastic Orders of the Royal House of Savoy and Full Member of the Royal European Academy of Doctors (READ), served as host during the visit that Prince and Grand Master Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy made to Spain and the Principality of Andorra between January 21 and 23. His Royal Highness reaffirmed the role of the Dynastic Orders in contemporary European dialogue through a series of institutional events of a distinctly diplomatic nature, highlighting the closeness of the legacy he represents to Spanish society.

The first day of the visit, in Barcelona, was marked by a strong symbolic and moral dimension and began with a heartfelt tribute to the victims of the tragic Adamuz railway accident. With sobriety and a sense of proportion, the Prince expressed respectful participation in the collective mourning. Moments of prayer and reflection set the tone for a brief tour characterized by remembrance and the value of historical memory. The second day focused on dialogue with ecclesiastical and civil institutions, emphasizing the historical connection between the House of Savoy and the European Christian tradition. A visit to the Abbey of Montserrat combined spirituality and dynastic memory, recalling the historical continuity of the Royal Family.

Emanuele Filiberto of Savoy also expressed the social commitment of the Dynastic Orders through their support for the Mamás en Acción project promoted by the Spanish Delegation, within the framework of a solemn event that brought together institutions, orders of chivalry, and civil society: the Charity Gala held at the Círculo del Liceo in Barcelona, attended by distinguished guests from around the world. The visit concluded in the Principality of Andorra, where the Prince and Grand Master was received by parliamentary authorities. Institutional meetings and contacts with the economic and business community strengthened relations and prospects for cooperation, confirming the value of dialogue between tradition and modernity.

Cortina has developed his professional and research activity in the fields of ceremonial, protocol, and public relations, serving as Head of Institutional Relations and Protocol in various companies and public institutions. He is the author of reference works in the field of protocol, including “Reglament de Protocol, Cerimonial, Honors i Distincions per als Ajuntaments” (2010).
