The Academy is structured as a functional organization chart which permits it to develop the scientific and academic activities for which it was created.

Its principal activities are:

  • Promote and encourage advances in literature, sciences, health, arts and technology as made effective through various social manifestations.
  • Maintain the link of the members with the University and to serve as the link between the doctors of all the world, and especially of Spain and of all the European Union, encouraging cultural exchange.
  • Watch over the rights, dignity and professional and business prestige and other prerogatives of the title of doctor, to procure the social and material improvements, to give support to all those who aspire to achieve this and to avoid the intrusion and an incorrect use of any doctoral distinctive.
  • To encourage the scientific collaboration and inter-professional assistance of the members and interdisciplinary investigation.
  • To work for the cause of peace through the close relations of cooperation between all the scientific academies of the world.
  • To exercise the consultation, representative and electoral functions recognised in law.
  • To advise and issue reports to the official organisms, public entities, corporations, companies, and other entities in the matters related to their speciality.
  • To endorse those scientific investigations which because of their importance so deserve it.
  • Advise the communication media on the veracity of the scientific information on any type of publicity that could be deceiving.
  • To organize scientific activities aimed at the study and diffusion of disciplines that constitute its objective, in the form in accordance with its Board of Government, having first informed the corresponding section or sections.
  • Promote and encourage investigation through the selective awarding of prizes, rewards or other stimulus that push forward scientific work, in accordance with conditions determined for this end by the Academy.
  • Establishing and sustaining cultural relations with other corporations from across the European Union, or beyond it, either directly or through its numerary, emeritus, honorary or corresponding members.
  • The organization of series of public lectures (conferences), training and educational programs, activities of academic diffusion and in collaboration with one or more universities, postgraduate, master and doctorate courses.
