FERNANDO ÓNEGA, president of the newspaper 65ymas.com, is an essential chronicler since the early days of the transition. A voice that is listened to and respected for its rigor and neutrality.

He was the press director of the Presidency of the Government under Adolfo Suárez, being the author of many of his speeches.

He has worked in various print and television media. On the radio, he introduced political commentary in May 1978 on the program Hora 25 of Cadena SER. Later, he became news director at Cadena SER and Cadena COPE, as well as general director of Onda Cero. In this same station, he collaborated with Luis del Olmo for 17 years, with Carlos Herrera, and from April 2015 to September 2022, he contributed to the programs Más de uno with two daily political commentaries, and La Brújula with a daily letter.

In print media, he published his first work at the age of 13 in La Noche in Santiago de Compostela. Two years later, he was signing a weekly page and conducting interviews for El Progreso in Lugo. He directed the newspaper Ya, founded the news agency and confidential service Off the Record (OTR Press), and in recent times, he has been a columnist for La Vanguardia and La Voz de Galicia.

On television, he directed several programs on TVE and served as director of external relations for the public network. He also presented news segments on Telecinco and Antena 3 and participated as a panelist in various debate programs.

He is the author of several books, including El termómetro de la vida, Puedo prometer y prometo, Juan Carlos I, and Qué nos ha pasado, España.

Throughout his career, he has received more than 100 awards, including the Godó Award, several Antenas de Oro, and Micrófonos de Oro.
