Dr. ROSA M. PINTÓ I SOLÉ
UNIVERSITY DEGREES
- Graduated in Biology from the University of Barcelona in 1985. As a graduate, she worked at the Institut d’Aqüicultura de Torre de la Sal of the CSIC.
- In 1990 she obtained her PhD in Biology, with Extraordinary Award, also from the University of Barcelona. Later, she carried out postdoctoral research at the Virology Institute of Oxford (1991-1992).
- In 1995 she became Associate Professor and is currently Full Professor of Microbiology at the University of Barcelona.
TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY
- Her research is focused on the field of Virology.
- She has taught Virology, Viral Vaccines and Foodborne Virus Control in twenty courses across six Bachelor’s degrees and four Master’s degrees, and has supervised thirteen PhD theses.
- She has served as a doctoral thesis supervisor at the Department of Virology of the University of Pretoria and at the Pasteur Institute in Paris.
- Since 2002 she has been a continuous principal investigator of projects under the National Plan for Scientific Research, Development and Technological Innovation, as well as several contracts with companies.
- She has published over 125 articles in indexed international journals.
- She has presented her research results in more than 100 international conferences.
- She has delivered international lectures at the National Research Center in Cairo, at the University of Pretoria, at the Royal Society of London and at the Tohoku University in Sendai.
