Full Professor of Health Education at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Academician of the Academy of Sciences and Engineering of the Canary Islands.
Invited lecturer at numerous international forums, with notable presentations such as the closing of the international course on smoking at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, the opening of the 1st Summit of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico on Tobacco Control, or his lecture at the Mexican Academy of Medicine.
Has directed master’s degrees and expert programs in Health Education and Tobacco Control.
Professor in programs at the University of Seville, Autonomous University of Madrid, Complutense University of Madrid and University of Lleida.
Corresponding Academician of the Academy of Sciences and Engineering.

Advisor to the Climate Change Reality Project led by Al Gore.
Selected by Al Gore among 23 people worldwide to participate in the Climate Reality project (2011).
Visiting professor at the universities of Auburn, Alabama and Long Beach (USA), and visiting researcher at the CDC Atlanta.
Advisor to the governments of Mexico and Puerto Rico on tobacco control programmes.
Member of the International Union Against Cancer within the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (1999–2003).
Member of the international jury of the Educational Excellence Awards of the Fidal Foundation of Ecuador.
Director of the International Course on Advances in Medicine (1993), which gathered 9 Nobel Laureates and was presided over by Her Majesty the Queen of Spain.
Promoter and Secretary General of the 2nd European Conference on Tobacco.
Promoter and Director of the 1st Latin American Meeting on Tobacco and the 1st Hispano-Luso-Mexican Summit on Tobacco Prevention.
Creator and Director of the Campus of Excellence (2005–2009), which gathered more than 50 Nobel Laureates and 2,500 participants.
General Director of the Excellence Foundation (since 2011), organiser of the global forum “The Ship of Excellence”.
Creator and Director of the Excellence Forum for Executives (Lloret de Mar, 2015).
