Dr. Manuel Muñiz Villa is the International Rector of IE University in Madrid and Professor of International Relations. Dr. Muñiz is also Dean of the School of Politics, Economics and Global Affairs at IE. In June 2023, Dr. Muñiz was elected President of the Association of Schools of International Relations (APSIA).
In that same year, he was named a Senior Fellow by Brookings. From January 2020 to July 2021, he was Secretary of State for Global Spain in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. Between 2015 and 2017, Dr. Muñiz directed the Transatlantic Relations Program at Harvard University.
Dr. Muñiz has a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the Complutense University of Madrid, a Master’s Degree in Stock Markets and Financial Markets from the Institute of Stock Market Studies, a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and a Doctorate in International Relations from the University of Oxford.
His work has been recognized with various awards and fellowships, among others the David Rockefeller Fellowship of the Trilateral Commission, the Munich Young Leader Fellowship 2017 of the Körber Stiftung, the Millennium Fellowship of the Atlantic Council, and the Eisenhower Fellowship. In 2016 he was named by esglobal as one of the 25 intellectuals who are redefining Ibero-American thought.
