Outstanding career: He defended the first doctoral thesis in Spain on quality costs and management accounting. A leading figure in auditing, management control and accounting innovation, he has helped strengthen the link between academic research and professional practice.
Dr. Mª ÁNGELA JIMÉNEZ MONTAÑÉS
UNIVERSITY EDUCATION
- Degree in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Castilla la Mancha, first graduating class, in 1991.
- PhD in Economics and Business Studies from the University of Castilla La Mancha in 1993, with a thesis entitled “Quality Costs and Management Accounting,” the first doctoral thesis on this subject in Spain.
- Obtained the title of Statutory Auditor from the Official Register of Auditors of Spain in 2001, and the title of Certified Accounting Expert awarded by the General Council of Economists of Spain in 2008.
TEACHING AND PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITY
- In 1991 she joined the Department of Economics and Business, in the area of Financial Economics and Accounting.
- Her academic career led her to obtain the position of Associate Professor in 1996, assigned to the Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences of Toledo at the University of Castilla La Mancha.
- Throughout her teaching career, she has supervised doctoral theses and more than 30 undergraduate, DEA, and master’s dissertations across different official degree programmes.
- From the beginning, her teaching has focused on Cost and Management Accounting and Auditing, both at undergraduate and postgraduate levels (Master’s and Doctorate, national and international).
- She has been a member of Scientific, Steering, and Organising Committees in conferences held in different countries, organised by institutions and universities such as the International Institute of Costs, the University of Litoral, Uruguay, the Institute of Socio-Economics of Enterprises and Organisations (France), the Jean Moulin University of Lyon, the University of Minho (Portugal) and the International Symposium on Ambient Intelligence (ISAmI).
- She has participated as a researcher in national, regional, and institutional projects of the University of Castilla La Mancha, as well as in various Teaching Innovation projects.
PUBLICATIONS
- Author of several books and book chapters (40) in both national and international publishers, as well as numerous scientific articles (60) and papers and presentations at prestigious international conferences (over 100 communications and presentations).
AWARDS AND HONOURS
- She has received various awards for her teaching and research work, granted by the Societá Italiana di Storia della Ragioneria, ISEOR, the Academy of Management (USA), the University of Alcalá, the ICAC and the Vice-Rectorate of the UCLM.
