Maria \u00c0ngels Calvo<\/strong><\/a>, full academician and vicepresident of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED) and at the same time full academician of the Royal Academy of Medicine of Catalonia<\/strong><\/a>, of the Royal Academy of Pharmacy of Catalonia<\/strong><\/a>, of the Academy of Sciences Veterinarians of Catalonia<\/strong><\/a> and the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain<\/strong><\/a>, participated last November 6 with Vivian Hartmann<\/strong>, director of the Department of Corporate Development and Institutional Relations of the Foundation Pro Royal European Academy of Doctors<\/strong>, in the day “La oportunidad del Big Data y la Inteligencia Artificial en la toma de decisiones cl\u00ednicas y de evaluaci\u00f3n en Sanidad”<\/strong> (The opportunity of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence in clinical decision making and evaluation in Health), which was held at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Barcelona<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"\"The scientific conference has been organized by the Association Bioinformatics Barcelona<\/strong><\/a> (BIB), the Spanish Society of Clinical Pharmacology<\/strong><\/a> and the University of Barcelona and \u200b\u200bpromoted by LETI Laboratories<\/strong><\/a> with the collaboration of the Roche Institute Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, the Royal European Academy of Doctors and the Health Spain Foundation<\/a><\/strong> , with an audience of more than four hundred people related to the health sector. This event analyzed the advances in the clinical and healthcare field, the issues that need to be addressed from a legal, social and ethical point of view, as well as the state of the matter from the point of view of clinical research and regulation of medicines and health products.<\/p>\n

As a present and future opportunity complementary to the clinical trial, the growing availability of massive data (Big Data) on health interventions and the digitalization of medicine offer the opportunity to expand knowledge about medicines and health products in an exponential way, as well as the possibility of enhancing precision medicine by improving the benefit-risk relationship not only at the sample or population level, but for each individual patient. For this they considered essential to promote the application of Big Data and Artificial Intelligence, although with ethical and methodological standards.<\/p>\n

Bioinformatics Barcelona is a non-profit association established in 2015 and currently has more than 50 member entities in the field of bioinformatics, including universities, research centers, hospital research institutes, large scientific infrastructures, companies and others entities that work in the fields of health, food and technology. Its objective is to boost initiatives at all levels: training, research and transfer, industrial competitiveness, dissemination, as well as to make visible the potential we have to become an international reference node in the field of bioinformatics.<\/p>\n

Following this day, the dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Antonio Trilla<\/strong>, has offered the RAED the possibility of future collaborations in conferences related to health and Big Data and new technologies that could be developed.<\/p>\n
