Emilio Lora-Tamayo D\u2019Oc\u00f3n \u2013 Francisco L\u00f3pez Mu\u00f1oz<\/p><\/div>\n

Francisco L\u00f3pez Mu\u00f1oz<\/strong><\/a>, professor of Pharmacology and director of the International Doctoral School<\/strong> of the Camilo Jos\u00e9 Cela University<\/strong><\/a> and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), took possession last Tuesday, September 17, of position of director of the Research and Science Area of \u200b\u200bthis Madrid university, a position assimilated to that of vicerector, together with the new rector team, headed by Emilio Lora-Tamayo<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Among the competences of L\u00f3pez Mu\u00f1oz, in addition to continuing to direct the International Doctoral School, which he had been doing for seven years, is the organization of the institution’s research policies, including the development of projects and the creation of structures for investigation. Likewise, under his direction the Office of Transfer of the Results of the Research<\/strong> and the University Library<\/strong> are included.<\/p>\n

In his inauguration speech, the new rector opted for “a hybridization of technology with humanism to face a new time marked by digital transformation” and highlighted, among the objectives of the new rectory team, to continue offering new and effective responses to the challenges posed by the globalized society of knowledge, digitalization and sustainable growth, under the pillars of excellence and talent, innovation, internationality, knowledge transfer, creativity and cooperative entrepreneurship. He also announced that special emphasis will be given to the so-called mega-trends, that is, emerging markets and urbanization, the interconnection of data and people, the acceleration of technological change and the challenge of a longer-lived world.<\/p>\n

\"\"Lora-Tamayo has doctor in Physical Sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid<\/strong><\/a> and professor of Electronics at the Autonomous University of Barcelona<\/strong><\/a>, \u200b\u200bchaired the Spanish Higher Council for Scientific Research<\/strong><\/a> (CSIC), was rector of the Men\u00e9ndez Pelayo International University<\/strong><\/a> and is academician from different Royal Academies, in addition to having a long career as a researcher and a long professional career in the field of education.<\/p>\n

The inauguration ceremony of the rector and his rector team was chaired by the president of the SEK Educational Institution<\/strong><\/a>, Nieves Segovia<\/strong>, and by the deputy minister of Science, Universities and Research of the Community of Madrid<\/strong><\/a>, Alfonso Gonz\u00e1lez Hermoso de Mendoza<\/strong>. The event was also attended by the mayor of Villanueva de la Ca\u00f1ada, Luis Partida<\/strong>, a town where the UCJC university campus is based, several rectors of Madrid universities and numerous personalities from the country’s political, social, educational and business fields.<\/p>\n
