Three Nobel prizes represent RAED at a meeting of the Nobel Foundation and the Ram\u00f3n Areces Foundation in Madrid<\/h2>\n

\"\"The Nobel prizes and honorary academicians of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED) Ada Yonath<\/strong><\/a> (Chemistry), Finn Kydland<\/strong><\/a> (Economics) and Edmund Phelps<\/strong><\/a> (Economics) participated last May 22 in Madrid at the conference organized by the Nobel Foundation<\/strong><\/a> and the Ram\u00f3n Areces Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, entitled “The future of aging”<\/strong>. Among the participants, the Nobel prize Edvard Moser<\/strong> (Physiology or Medicine) also participated. The Academy was formally represented by the full academician and president of its Institute of International Cooperation<\/strong> Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Calvo<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The objective of the event was to stimulate the debate at the highest level on a topic related to science, bringing together Nobel laureates, scientists of recognized world prestige, opinion leaders, policy makers, different interest groups and the general public in multidisciplinary sessions. The meeting aims in turn to deepen the dialogue between the scientific community and society. The conference is inspired by the Nobel Dialogue Week<\/strong> held in Sweden since 2012 the same week in December when the prizes are awarded.<\/p>\n

Kydland was recognized by the Swedish Academy in 2004. He holds the Jeffrey Henley Chair<\/strong> in Economics from the University of California Santa Barbara<\/strong><\/a> and the Richard P. Simmons Chair<\/strong> in Economics at Carnegie Mellon University<\/strong><\/a>. Phelps received the award in 2006. He is the director of the Center on Capitalism and Society<\/strong> at Columbia University<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

Yonath, Nobel prize in Chemistry in 2009, focuses his research on protein biosynthesis and the antibiotics that paralyze it. She holds an honorary doctorate from more than 20 universities and has been recognized with numerous top-level scientific awards.<\/p>\n
