The Independent Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, chaired by Aldo Olcese<\/strong><\/a>, full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), has held the 9th Humanism and Business Forum<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, an event attended by important professionals in the business field and representatives of Spanish civil society. The main objective of the meeting is to provoke a change in the business paradigm with entrepreneurs as protagonists and to reformulate capitalism in order to turn it into a humanistic model committed to ethics and values. During the Forum, the Humanist Leader Award<\/strong> was awarded to Juan Antonio Marina<\/strong>, philosopher, essayist and pedagogue. The delivery was made by Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Mar\u00edn Quemada<\/strong>, president of the National Commission of Markets and Competition<\/strong><\/a>. The RAED was represented by Alfredo Rocafort<\/strong><\/a>, full academician and president of the Governing Board, who participated in the inauguration and addressed a few words to the presents, and Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Calvo<\/strong><\/a>, full academician and president of the Institute of International Cooperation<\/strong>. Ignacio Buqueras<\/strong>, full\u00a0 academician of the Section of Humanities of the Royal Academy of Doctors of Spain<\/strong><\/a> (RADE) and full academician of the Royal European Academy of Doctors-Barcelona 1914<\/strong> (RAED), also participated in the event.<\/p>\n Juan Manuel Cendoya<\/strong>, vicepresident of Banco Santander<\/strong><\/a>, starred in an outstanding intervention on “Finanzas y humanismo”<\/strong> (Finanzas y humanismo). “The company is required not only to think about the shareholder, but also about society in general. At Banco Santander, we do many things that don’t bring us economic benefits, but that serve to help young people achieve a better education”, he said. For his part, Juan Costa<\/strong>, director of Sustainability at EY<\/strong><\/a>, explained the idea and said that “human capital is a fundamental factor in the company that must be managed appropriately as part of the overall strategy”. Within the chapter “Sanidad y humanismo”<\/strong> (Health and humanism) led by Antonio Bascones<\/strong>, president of the RADE and regular collaborator of the RAED, Federico Mayor Zaragoza<\/strong>, professor of Static and Dynamic Biochemistry and president of Unesco<\/a><\/strong> between 1987 and 1999, said that “we can not continue to allocate money to armament and not to alleviate human suffering”. In the same way, for Juan Abarca<\/strong>, president of HM Hospitales<\/strong><\/a>, “dehumanization isn’t an exclusive act of health. It’s also present in other areas, such as education or justice. The judicialization of medicine, for example, conveys the idea that the patient is the enemy and that professionals must protect themselves. In this way, it only contributes to the dehumanization of health”.<\/p>\n Alfredo Dagnino<\/strong>, vicepresident of the Independent Foundation, opened the section “Educaci\u00f3n y humanismo”<\/strong> (Education and humanism) advocating the need to educate in values \u200b\u200band teach, among other things, to think. “We are witnessing a moment of change and great challenges in education and it’s urgent that humanistic models be applied”, he said. “Foster critical thinking and creativity will get young people to learn any content”, said Pilar Laguna<\/strong>, director of the Observatory of Education<\/strong> at the King Juan Carlos University<\/strong><\/a>. “Tecnolog\u00edas y humanismo”<\/strong> (Technologies and humanism) also focused the interest of the act with the presence of Julio Linares<\/strong>, president of the Digital Society Commission<\/strong> of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations <\/strong><\/a>(CEOE), who commented on the great challenges of new technologies: cybersecurity, privacy, ethics and the impact that these may have on employment. “Education is key to the design of artificial intelligence born of people”, said Marietta del Rivero<\/strong>, independent counsel of Cellnex Telecom<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n After the award of recognition to Juan Antonio Marina, Mar\u00edn Quemada said that “a country can live without government, there has been some case throughout history, but never without institutions. The behavior of men is the only responsible of the events and their subsequent repercussion”. Marina, meanwhile, said that it was creating “a new human species due to nanotechnology and artificial intelligence”.<\/p>\n The Independent Foundation is an organization that aims to defend rights and achieve greater participation of civil society in Spain. Its activity has focused on analysis and debate through the organization of professional and academic seminars and meetings such as the World Conference on Civil Society<\/strong> and the Civic Round Tables on Youth and Society<\/strong> or the National Encounters of Civil Society on Reform Politics<\/strong> or the National Meetings of Civil Society on Education in Freedom<\/strong>, among others. Likewise, the institution has promoted the Salamanca Manifesto on Education<\/strong>, the Social Pact for Science and Technology<\/strong> or the Homage to the Spanish Constitution<\/strong>. Desde Banco Santander hacemos muchas cosas que no nos reportan ganancias econ\u00f3micas, pero que sirven para que los j\u00f3venes alcancen una mejor educaci\u00f3n\u201d, se\u00f1al\u00f3. De la misma forma, para Juan Abarca<\/strong>, presidente de HM Hospitales<\/strong><\/a>, \"la deshumanizaci\u00f3n no es un acto exclusivo de la sanidad. Tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1 presente en otros \u00e1mbitos, como la educaci\u00f3n o la justicia. De esta forma s\u00f3lo se contribuye a la deshumanizaci\u00f3n de la sanidad\".<\/p> Alfredo Dagnino<\/strong>, vicepresidente de Fundaci\u00f3n Independiente, abri\u00f3 el apartado \"Educaci\u00f3n y humanismo\" abogando por la necesidad de educar en valores y ense\u00f1ar, entre otras cosas, a pensar. \"Asistimos a un momento de cambio y grandes desaf\u00edos en materia de educaci\u00f3n y es urgente que los modelos humanistas sean aplicados\", afirm\u00f3. \"Fomentar el pensamiento cr\u00edtico y la creatividad conseguir\u00e1 que los j\u00f3venes aprendan cualquier contenido\", se\u00f1al\u00f3 por su parte Pilar Laguna<\/strong>, directora del Observatorio de Educaci\u00f3n<\/strong> de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos<\/strong><\/a>. \"Tecnolog\u00edas y el humanismo\"<\/strong> tambi\u00e9n centr\u00f3 el inter\u00e9s del acto con la presencia de Julio Linares<\/strong>, presidente de la Comisi\u00f3n de Sociedad Digital<\/strong> de la Confederaci\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola de Organizaciones Empresariales<\/strong><\/a> (CEOE), quien coment\u00f3 los grandes retos de las nuevas tecnolog\u00edas: ciberseguridad, privacidad, \u00e9tica y el impacto que \u00e9stas puedan tener en el empleo. \"La educaci\u00f3n es clave para que el dise\u00f1o en inteligencia artificial nazca de la personas\", se\u00f1al\u00f3 Marietta del Rivero<\/strong>, consejera independiente de Cellnex Telecom<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p> Tras la entrega del premio de reconocimiento a Juan Antonio Marina, Mar\u00edn Quemada se\u00f1al\u00f3 que \"un pa\u00eds puede vivir sin Gobierno, se ha dado alg\u00fan caso a lo largo de la historia, pero nunca sin instituciones. El comportamiento de los hombres es el \u00fanico responsable de los sucesos y de su repercusi\u00f3n posterior\". Marina, por su parte, se\u00f1al\u00f3 que se estaba creando \"una nueva especie humana debido a la nanotecnolog\u00eda y a la inteligencia artificial\u201d.<\/p> La Fundaci\u00f3n Independiente es una organizaci\u00f3n que tiene como objetivo la defensa de los derechos y conseguir una mayor participaci\u00f3n de la sociedad civil en Espa\u00f1a.
